It’s a new season, a new month, and so many fun things ahead between now and the holidays. I continue to be refreshed by the changing of the leaves, fall colors, and all the cooler temperatures. We just had a great Halloween with the kiddos and I am so grateful for our health, love, and time together during the fall season.
See what I did there? I showed gratitude. This is one of the most underused skills that you have the ability to practice each and every day. Gratitude is a learned skill. It’s a practice of appreciating what you have instead of always reaching for something new in the hopes that it will make you happier or thinking you can’t feel satisfied until every need is met. Gratitude helps focus on what you have instead of what you lack. Many people have a natural tendency to complain and possess this “ain’t it awful” mindset. Some of the most common things we talk about lacking are in the realm of family, friends, relationships, money, time, jobs, and physical health. What if you flipped it?
Try This! Share 3 things you are grateful for!
I am grateful for….
1.
2.
3.
Look over what you shared! How does it feel to focus on what you have? Instant dopamine boost! Keep your attention to what you have instead of staying in a negative state. This is one of the first steps to getting what you want. You have to be first grateful for what you have and honor it. No matter the challenges or obstacles in your way, there is always something to be grateful for. Did you know that gratitude is linked with feelings of reward, improved sleep, decreased depression and anxiety? I write gratitude daily and I sleep like a baby!
